What are the boats used for?

The iguana is not a gadget. The average Iguana is purchased by people who actually use them more than any other normal boat. Be it used as a commuter to get to the main land every day from an island, as a tender to disembark passengers with dry feet from a yacht, as a day boat that you can launch from the garden of your waterfront home, as an explorer to get as close as possible to wild coast usually unaccessible by traditional boats… Iguanas have multiple applications for private and professional use.

How strong is the boat?

The landing gear frame is made of marine grade aluminum, the hull is highly reinforced with sandwich structural elements of epoxy and carbon which increase the stiffness of the boat and its overall performance. The architecture of the mobility system is oversized so resists impacts when hitting the ground. All materials used are shock absorbent both on land and sea.

How heavy is the Iguana?

The boat’s 3 tonne is spread evenly over the wide tracks so the footprint left on the sand is no deeper than a human and will simply be washed away in the surf.

Is the Iguana easy to land?

The gunnels of the Iguana are 2m high which allows a dry and safe land to sea transition even in waves up to 1.2m. Deployment of the landing gear takes only 10 seconds.

WHAT TYPE OF SURFACES CAN BE DRIVEN ON?

Low ground pressure combined with extreme torque, soft sandy beaches are naturally easy. As for mud, if a human can walk on it, so can the Iguana. Pebbles and rocks are equally effortless.

How does the landing gear work?

The simple touch of a button on the Iguana Management System lowers and rises the landing gear.  Driven by stainless steel hydraulic jacks, the landing gear folds and deploys in 12 seconds and folds seamlessly into the ergonomically designed hull.

What's the max payload?

The exceptionally light weight hull and uncompromised design allow the Iguana to carry heavy loads like no other amphibious boat. The boat’s have more than 2 tonne capacity and can carry up to 16 guests.

How long can it be driven?

Fuel tanks of up to 500 litres can achieve a range of up to 100 nautical miles 25 hours on land. A lot of exploring!

Whats the maintenance costs?

Because the Iguana can be safely stored in a dedicated area which ensures longevity the maintenance is massively reduced compared to a standard boat. Any maintenance is easy because everything is so accessible.

Can the Iguana be stored land?

The Iguana is made to stay on her tracks constantly so can be stored year round on land.

How long does the electric land drive last?

The electric land drive is whisper quiet and has a range of up to 1,5 hours which can be extended with additional batteries if required.

What's the turning circle?

The counter rotating track capabilities provide extreme precision for sharp turns or parking, moving both forward and backward.

What benefits are there to the environment?

No need for a pontoon, a marina or a harbor which impacts the environment. No antifouling or chemical protection. No deterioration of the boat while anchored. The Iguana can be safely stored in a dedicated area which ensures longevity and reduced and easy maintenance (because everything is so accessible)

Where are Iguana Yachts manufactured?

The boats are manufactured in Normandy, France. Many of the parts are locally sourced and supplied.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to visit our manufacturing facility.

Is there a risk of corrosion?

Marine grade aluminum, rubber, Kevlar and stainless steel are all used in the landing gear. The hull is made of an epoxy foam and carbon fiber sandwich to ensure the boat can endure the harshest conditions. This has proven to be very efficient since 2013.

What warranty and after care is available?

All our clients are offered a service pack ensuring a multi year warranty and a 24/7 aftercare service with 90% issues fixed remotely.

How steep can it climb?

16° / 29 % is the maximum straight gradient, this is for example the slope needed to load on a flatbed trailer or recovery truck. On variable slopes, the capacity is huge. During our own heavy duty trials, our testing team climbed a soft sand dune of 47% (for security reasons we strongly recommend not to try this, passengers could not stay in, they would roll out!)

How fast is the Iguana?

The tracks seamlessly fold into the hull above the water line so the boat’s sleek lines remain intact. The deep-V carbon fiber bow is designed to cut waves achieving speeds over 50 mph while the land drive runs at speeds of 4.5 mph.

How long has Iguana Yachts been selling boats?

Our first amphibious Iguana was delivered to our first client in 2013 in Bahrain, a location well known for its very harsh conditions (Salt temperature, moisture and sand). She is still operational and used on a regular basis. Since then more than 50 boats have been delivered around the world and used daily to the satisfaction of their owners.

Is it possible to drive on the road?

The Iguana is not made as a road vehicle. The restrictions of road driving depend on the local authorities. While the authorisation to drive short distances on quiet roads is usually not difficult to obtain. We cannot guarantee this will be granted.

Iguana Yachts are available around the world in our international offices.
If you dont have an office close to you just inquire and we will come to you.

With a ground pressure lower than a 4×4 and extreme torque, the soft sandy beaches are naturally easy. As for mud, if a human can walk, the Iguana Yachts will drive. Pebbles, rocks and hard grounds are not an issue, it just makes the ride a bit bumpy just like with a 4×4. The counter rotating capabilities give extreme precision for sharp turns or parking, both forward and backward.

With the 300 liters fuel tank the range at cruising speed is about 100 nautical miles and on land about 25 hours. A lot of exploration capabilities!

The frame of the IMS – Igunana Mobility System – is welded in the most advanced aluminium (5083, also called marine grade aluminum) and treated with epoxy paint to assure the ability to withstand the saline environment.
The bounding frames, spacers, bolts, nuts, are made out of marine grade stainless steel (316). The aluminium, the stainless steel and the carbon fiber are isolated to ensure that there is no galvanic corrosion.

Iguana Yachts have 2 years warranty.

16° / 29 % is the maximum straight gradient, this is for example the slope needed to load on a flatbed trailer or recovery truck. On variable slopes, the capacity is huge. During an heavy duty try out, our testing team climbed a soft sand dune of 47% (for security reasons we strongly recommend not to imitate this, passengers could not stay in, they would roll out…)

On sea the boat is powered by a 300 hp out board engine. On land, the air-cooled engine powers an hydraulic station. Both can be used at the same time, easing the passage from one environment to another.

The Iguana 29 can reach 35 knots on the water and with its very strong torque can climb and ride even on soft sands at 4.5 miles per hour.

Yes the console folds in 3 seconds without the need for any tools.

By pressing a button on the ECU, following a 90° rotation, driven by stainless steel hydraulic jacks, the landing gear folds and deploys in 8 seconds.

Iguana Yachts are not meant to be road vehicles. The allowances of driving on a road depends on the local authorities. Don’t expect to drive on the highway, but the authorization to make a few hundreds of meters to access your property is usually not hard to obtain.
