FROM PASSION TO EXPERTISE, REMY FOURRE’S JOURNEY AT IGUANA YACHTS

Since a young age, Rémy Fourré has been passionate about electricity. Today, he applies his expertise at Iguana Yachts, playing a key role in the electrical installation of the Iguanas. From his inspiring journey to his daily work driven by innovation, he shares his experience and the challenges of his profession.

Read the following interview to learn more about his work at Iguana Yachts.

TELL US MORE ABOUT YOURSELF

“As a child, I loved taking apart my toys to understand how they worked. One day, I had a small broken computer, and I decided to open it up and try to fix it. To my great joy, I succeeded! We lived in a house under renovation, and I watched the electricians work with fascination. That is how I became interested in exploring this profession. So, I pursued a vocational high school diploma in electrotechnical and communicative equipment at Lycée Dumont d’Urville in Caen (Normandy). After three years of studies, I wanted to enter the workforce directly. However, the construction industry felt too repetitive for my taste.

It was around this time that Iguana Yachts reached out to me to join their team. Today, I have been working there for nearly six years. I was involved in the recruitment campaign for the manufacturing of the X100, a new project launched in 2019.”

I am now a technical leader in the electrical department at Iguana Yachts. As my manager’s second-in-command, I take on a leadership role in his absence and handle some administrative tasks, including reporting.

Additionally, I was elected as a representative in the company’s Social and Economic Committee (CSE). I enjoy representing my colleagues and highlighting their skills. This helps foster strong team cohesion.”

THE IMPORTANCE OF AN IN-HOUSE TEAM OF ELECTRICIANS

“We are a team of four in-house electricians, responsible for electrical installations. The advantage of working in-house is that we are trained and specialized, especially for amphibious boats, whose technology is highly advanced. Additionally, this allows us to stay connected with the teams that assembled the boat. As a result, we have a tracking file that enables us to communicate effectively and have a thorough knowledge of every component on the boat.”

“We oversee the entire boat from start to finish. We install the main electrical system during pre-decking, then move on to the finishing stage, which requires time and precision. We also ensure that all materials are waterproof to prevent any water infiltration.

I enjoy every phase of the process, particularly wiring the cabins for the Iguana Commuter and working on the consoles, which require a keen eye for detail and luxurious finishes.”

Today, our boats are stunning, with high-end finishes and remarkable quality. I have a soft spot for the Bow Rider design, which is a true gem in terms of craftsmanship.

WHY BOATS INSTEAD OF HOUSES?

“Our boats are impressive and technologically innovative. Before joining Iguana Yachts, I did not know amphibious technology, especially not in Normandy! I was immediately drawn to the product. What I particularly enjoy about my job is the variety of tasks. There is no monotony, and we have the privilege of being both autonomous and part of a strong team. The flexibility of our work allows us to engage in different aspects of the manufacturing process, making it highly rewarding.”

A MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE

“On January, 2020, I had the opportunity to attend the Düsseldorf Boat Show with the team. We started the trip with a team-building activity before diving into the exhibition. This experience was incredibly enriching; it inspired us to refine the aesthetics and optimize the electrical design of our boats.”
