Passionate about technology since childhood, Arthur has turned his curiosity into a career dedicated to designing and programming advanced systems. From his early experiments with electronics to his latest innovations on the Iguana Mobility System, his journey is one of creativity, perseverance, and a constant drive to improve.Learn more about his background, his role, and his vision in the following interview.TELL US MORE ABOUT YOURSELF “I have always known that I wanted to become an engineer. Since childhood, I have been passionate about building and repairing things. I used to dismantle old appliances at home just to understand how they worked. Once, I even nearly set the house on fire after trying to restart a washing machine at age twelve. It was a bit too complex electronically for me at that time, but this curiosity and love for tinkering never left me.After high school, I chose a scientific path and entered preparatory classes in mathematics before joining an engineering school in La Rochelle. During this time, I had an internship in the aeronautical sector, but I quickly realized that production-oriented roles were not for me. I am more attracted to technical studies and programming. That led me to pursue a Master’s degree in mechatronics, which combines electronics, programming, and mechanics. During my studies, I worked on a project developing an electric bicycle recharged with solar panels. I enjoyed it so much that I continued with the project for two years.”“Later, I started my own micro-enterprise. One of the projects I worked on was the development of a machine capable of removing labels from glass bottles so they could be reused; a real challenge in the context of the circular economy. I also contributed to several electric mobility projects before moving with my family to Normandy, where my journey with Iguana Yachts began.” It is a remarkably robust and well-thought-out technology. Seeing an Iguana for the first time is always a surprise!”A KEY ROLE AT IGUANA YACHTS “At Iguana, my work focuses mainly on programming and electronic architecture. I also handle the integration of the electrical system on board and work closely with the electrical department to bring in new components. A big part of my role is also developing and refining the IMS, the Iguana Mobility System.Because we are a relatively small company, my position is very versatile. I do not really have a “typical” day.”“Most of the time, I am in front of my computer improving our systems, but I also support the after-sales service when urgent software issues arise, or assist the quality team in ensuring each boat leaves our workshop with a perfectly functional IMS.”LATEST INNOVATIONS“One of my biggest projects at Iguana has been the complete redesign of the IMS interface. The idea was to create a single, intuitive system across all Iguana models. I wanted to make it as clear and user-friendly as possible so that any client could pilot the IMS without difficulty.More recently, I have been working with Garmin on a much larger project. The goal is to develop a modern, elegant graphical interface directly on the onboard screens, first to control all the equipment on board, and later the IMS itself. “ “The ambition is to deliver something at the same level of refinement as the boat itself. For me, the challenge is always the same: creating systems that are both reliable and intuitive, much like the experience of using a familiar platform such as Google.” When you buy an Iguana, you are not just buying a boat, you are buying freedom: the freedom to go from sea to land, wherever you wish.”THE FUTURE OF IGUANA MOBILITY “If I had to describe Iguana in three words, I would say freedom, innovation, and robustness. Freedom, because our boats allow people to explore both land and sea without limits, and because within the company, we also have the freedom to suggest and develop new ideas. Innovation, because Iguana is unique: no one else in the world builds boats like these. And robustness, because despite the demanding marine environment, the technology has proven solid and reliable.”“Looking to the future, I believe Iguana should continue to invest in research and development, particularly in sustainable solutions. I would love to see us build a fully electric Iguana one day; quiet, environmentally friendly, and offering a truly exceptional water experience.”
